Why use this tool?
- A font that looks fine in a specimen list can look wrong with your actual headline. Typing your own words into the sample box settles that quickly.
- Picking two typefaces that sit well together is the hard part of choosing fonts. The tool suggests a body face for many of the headings and shows both in a live preview.
- Writing the Google Fonts URL by hand is easy to get wrong, especially with weights and italics. The embed code here is generated from the weight and italic choices you made.
- Comparing size, weight, line height and letter spacing in one place is faster than editing a stylesheet and refreshing.
How to use Font Generator
- Type your own words into "Sample text". Every font in the list redraws with them.
- Narrow the list with "Search fonts" or the Category buttons: sans-serif, serif, monospace, display or handwriting.
- Adjust "Size", "Weight", "Line height" and "Letter spacing", and tick "Italic" if you want to see it slanted.
- Click a sample to make it the heading face. A suggested body face is chosen for you where there is a known pairing; change it with the "Body font" menu.
- Under "Embed", pick "HTML <link>" or "CSS @import" and copy the code. Copy the "Stylesheet" block too if you want the CSS variables and heading rules.
Features
- 36 Google Fonts across five categories: sans-serif, serif, monospace, display and handwriting
- Search by name and filter by category
- Sliders for size (12 to 96 px), weight (400, 600 or 800), line height and letter spacing
- Italic toggle
- Suggested heading and body pairings for 18 of the fonts, with a live preview of both together
- Embed code as an HTML link tag with preconnect hints, or as a CSS @import
- A CSS block with --font-heading and --font-body variables and heading rules that match your settings
Supported formats
Text in, code out: copyable HTML link tags, a CSS @import line and a CSS stylesheet. No font files are generated or downloaded.
Tips
- Pair a distinctive heading face with a plain body face. If the heading is a display or handwriting font, keep the body to something quiet such as Inter, Lato or Open Sans.
- Prefer the link tag to @import. The tool's own note explains why: @import holds up loading until the CSS has been parsed.
- Only load the weights you use. The embed code asks for the weight you chose for headings and 400 and 600 for the body face, so keep it that way instead of adding every weight.
- Check how your sample text looks at the size you will really use. A font that works at 60 px can feel tight at 18 px.
Frequently asked questions
Which fonts are included?
A curated list of 36 Google Fonts, including Inter, Roboto, Poppins, Playfair Display, Lora, JetBrains Mono, Bebas Neue and Caveat. It is not the whole Google Fonts catalogue.
Are the fonts free to use on a website?
The fonts are served from Google Fonts, which publishes them under open-source licences. Check the licence on Google Fonts for any particular family before using it in a product.
Does this tool contact Google?
Yes. Your browser loads the previews directly from Google Fonts while you use the page, and nothing you type is sent to HubToolify.
How does the pairing suggestion work?
It is a fixed list of heading and body combinations chosen for contrast in shape and a similar mood, such as Playfair Display with Source Serif 4. It is a starting point, and you can pick any other body font.
Why can I only choose three weights?
The slider steps through 400, 600 and 800, which are the weights the previews load. Those keep the page quick to load and cover regular, semibold and heavy.
Do I need both the link tag and the stylesheet?
Yes, they do different jobs. The link tag (or @import) downloads the fonts, and the stylesheet block tells your page which element uses which font.
Can I try this Pro tool without an account?
Yes. Preview 12 fonts from every category with live pairing and copyable embed code. Pro unlocks all 36. Your own input is processed locally in your browser.
Will upgrading keep my work?
Checkout and login open in a separate tab. Keep the workspace open to retain inputs, settings and previews. Files stay in that tab only; keep the originals in case you close or reload it. Export access is checked with the server after payment.
Your browser queries a public third-party service directly for this lookup. Nothing you enter is sent to or stored by HubToolify.
