Video Frame Grabber Pro
Scrub through a video, stop on the exact frame you want and save it as a full-size PNG or JPEG. A contact sheet of frames spread across the clip helps you choose a cover without scrubbing for it. Free preview · Pro required to export. Scrub your video and grab a frame as a preview up to 640 pixels. Pro grabs and saves it at full size.

Why use this tool?
- A cover or thumbnail needs to be a sharp frame from the video itself, and a screenshot of a paused player is smaller and often has controls in it.
- Picking the best moment by eye means looking at many frames; the contact sheet shows evenly spaced ones side by side.
- The still is taken at the video's native resolution, so a 4K clip gives a 4K image.
- The frame is read by the browser's own decoder, so there is no engine to download and it starts at once.
How to use Video Frame Grabber
- Drop a video onto the drop zone, or click to browse.
- Drag the Position slider (it moves in steps of 0.02 seconds) until the preview shows the frame you want.
- Choose Save as: PNG for lossless, or JPEG for a smaller file, with a JPEG quality slider from 60 to 100.
- Press "Grab this frame". The still appears with its time and file size.
- Press the Download button. To compare options first, choose 6, 9 or 12 under "How many" and press "Show me the options", then click a thumbnail to jump the Position slider to it.

Tips
- Choose PNG for a cover that will be re-edited, and JPEG at 90 or above when file size matters.
- Contact sheet frames are small previews at 320 pixels wide. They help you choose the moment, but the saved still is the full-size one taken when you press Grab.
- Compressed video can have a soft or blurred frame right after a scene cut. If a frame looks smeary, move a few hundredths of a second along.
- If a frame cannot be read, try a position slightly earlier or later.
Frequently asked questions
Is the video uploaded?
No. The video plays in a hidden video element in your browser and each frame is copied to a canvas, so the file stays on your device.
Is the image really full resolution?
Yes. The grab uses the video's own width and height, shown as Frame size. The on-screen preview is scaled down to fit the page but the saved file is not.
Why did my video not open?
This tool relies on your browser's decoder, so it can only open formats the browser can play. An MP4 with H.264 video opens in all the common browsers; some MOV, MKV or HEVC files will not.
How does the "Pick a cover" sheet choose frames?
It divides the clip into equal intervals and takes a frame at each interior point, so for nine frames it takes the ones at one-tenth, two-tenths and so on of the length. The very first and last frames are skipped, since they are often a fade.
Should I save PNG or JPEG?
PNG keeps every pixel exactly but produces a bigger file. JPEG is much smaller and fine for most thumbnails at quality 90 or above.
What is the largest file I can open?
500 MB. This is higher than the other video tools because nothing needs to be encoded.
Can I try this Pro tool without an account?
Yes. Scrub your video and grab a frame as a preview up to 640 pixels. Pro grabs and saves it at full size. Your own input is processed locally in your browser.
Will upgrading keep my work?
