Why use this tool?

  • Marking a draft as CONFIDENTIAL or DRAFT makes its status clear to anyone who receives it.
  • A logo on each page shows whose document it is when pages are passed around separately.
  • Reports and scans that arrive without page numbers are hard to refer to in a meeting; numbering them fixes that.
  • Because the marks are real page content rather than a flattened picture, the text underneath stays selectable and the file hardly grows.

How to use PDF Watermark & Page Numbers

  1. Drop a PDF onto "Drop a PDF here or click to browse".
  2. Under Watermark choose Text, Logo or None. For text, type the Words, then set Colour, Position, Size and Angle.
  3. For a logo, drop a PNG or JPEG, pick a Position and set its Width as a percentage of the page. Adjust Opacity for either kind.
  4. Under Page numbers, tick "Number the pages", then choose Format, Position, Start at and Size. Tick "Leave the first page unnumbered" if there is a cover.
  5. Check the First page preview, which updates as you change settings, then press "Save the stamped PDF".

Features

  • Text watermark with colour, size from 12 to 140 pt, an angle from -90 to 90 degrees and an opacity setting
  • Logo watermark from a PNG or JPEG, sized from 5 to 90% of the page width
  • Eight positions for text, including tiled across the page, and seven for a logo
  • Page numbers in four formats: 7, 7 / 12, Page 7 of 12, or — 7 —
  • Start the numbering at any value and skip the cover page
  • Live preview of the first page
  • Stamps are drawn as vector text and embedded images, so the document is not rasterised

Supported formats

Accepts a PDF, plus an optional PNG or JPEG logo. Saves a PDF named after the original with -stamped added.

Tips

  • A low opacity, around 15 to 25%, keeps a diagonal watermark visible without making the page hard to read.
  • The built-in PDF fonts cover Latin text only. Hindi, Chinese, Arabic or emoji cannot be drawn as watermark words, and the tool warns you.
  • A watermark is a mark of ownership, not a lock. Anyone with PDF editing software can remove it.
  • For printed documents, set page numbers to bottom centre at 10 pt, which is the default.

Frequently asked questions

Is my document uploaded?

No. The stamps are drawn with pdf-lib inside your browser and the preview is rendered there as well.

Does the watermark flatten the pages into images?

No. Text is added as text and a logo as an embedded image, on top of the existing page, so the original text stays selectable and searchable.

Can someone remove the watermark?

Yes. It is ordinary page content, not encryption, so it identifies the document without preventing editing. To restrict opening, use PDF Protect & Unlock.

Can I number pages without a watermark?

Yes. Set Watermark to None and leave "Number the pages" ticked.

Can I start numbering from a number other than 1?

Yes. Enter a value in "Start at". With the cover left unnumbered, the second page begins at that number.

What logo files work?

PNG and JPEG only. A PNG with a transparent background keeps its transparency.

Can I try this Pro tool without an account?

Yes. Preview your watermark and page number on the first PDF page. Pro downloads the complete stamped document. Your own input is processed locally in your browser.

Will upgrading keep my work?

Checkout and login open in a separate tab. Keep the workspace open to retain inputs, settings and previews. Files stay in that tab only; keep the originals in case you close or reload it. Export access is checked with the server after payment.

Your files are processed directly in your browser and are not uploaded to HubToolify's servers.
