Why use this tool?

  • A link shared without proper tags tends to show a guessed image and no description, or none at all.
  • Each platform cuts titles and descriptions at a different length, so a title that fits on one can be truncated on another.
  • Many sites have no share image at all, and drawing one in a design tool takes more effort than the page deserves.
  • When shared links look wrong, it helps to see which tags are missing, duplicated or using relative image paths.

How to use Open Graph Generator

  1. Pick a mode at the top: Write tags, Make the image or Check a page.
  2. In Write tags, choose What this page is, then enter the title, description, canonical URL and an absolute Image URL. Fill in the article, product, profile or video fields that appear for that type.
  3. Optionally enter an address under Start from a page and click Read it to fill the form from that page's existing tags.
  4. Switch between Facebook, X, LinkedIn, Slack, WhatsApp and Discord to see the preview, and read the warnings.
  5. Click Copy or download open-graph.html to take the meta tags.
  6. In Make the image, choose the layout, colours and accent, then click Download PNG. In Check a page, paste the page source to see a list of findings.

Features

  • Open Graph tags for website, article, product, profile, video, song and book types
  • Optional twitter: tags with the large-image or small card
  • Previews for Facebook, X, LinkedIn, Slack, WhatsApp and Discord with each one's title and description cut-offs
  • Warnings for missing, relative or http images, small or oddly proportioned images, and missing alt text
  • A canvas-drawn 1200 by 630 PNG card with layout, light or dark theme, accent colour and an optional site icon
  • A checker that reads pasted markup and reports missing required tags, duplicates and mismatches
  • Locale and image dimension fields

Supported formats

Writes HTML meta tags, downloaded as open-graph.html. The card generator exports a 1200 by 630 PNG. The checker accepts pasted page source or just its head.

Tips

  • Use an absolute https image URL at 1200 by 630; a relative path or an http URL shows nothing on most platforms.
  • Keep the title near 70 characters or fewer for X and about 88 for Facebook, as the preview shows.
  • Upload the generated PNG to your site and point og:image at its URL; it must be reachable without logging in.
  • Keep og:url the same as your canonical link so shares are counted against one address.

Frequently asked questions

Is anything sent to a server?

Only the Read it button. It sends the address you type to HubToolify so a server can fetch that page, because a browser cannot read another site's pages. Writing tags, making the image and pasting markup to check are done in your browser.

Can it check a live URL for me?

The Check a page tab cannot; paste the page source there instead. Read it, in the other tabs, fetches a page through HubToolify to pre-fill the form.

What size should the share image be?

The tool recommends 1200 by 630 pixels, a ratio of about 1.91 to 1, and warns when your stated size is under 600 pixels wide or far from that ratio.

Are the previews exactly what each platform shows?

They are approximations built on observed limits; only X has published its own. Treat them as a guide and confirm with the platform's own debugger after publishing.

Why does LinkedIn show no description in the preview?

The tool models LinkedIn as showing the title and domain only, so the title has to carry the message.

Which og tags are required?

The checker treats og:title, og:type, og:image and og:url as required, and flags a missing og:description as a warning.

Can I try this Pro tool without an account?

Yes. Write and copy Open Graph tags and preview your share card at 600 pixels. The 1200 x 630 PNG and file downloads require Pro. Your own input is processed locally in your browser.

Will upgrading keep my work?

Checkout and login open in a separate tab. Keep the workspace open to retain inputs, settings and previews. Files stay in that tab only; keep the originals in case you close or reload it. Export access is checked with the server after payment.

Writing the tags, previewing the cards and making the share image all happen in your browser. Only the "Read it" button needs a server: a page cannot fetch another site's HTML itself, so the address you give it is sent to HubToolify to be looked up. The result is returned to you and the lookup is not stored.
