Why use this tool?

  • Instagram shows only about the first 125 characters before "more", so a hook that runs long is cut off before anyone reads the point of the post.
  • A caption is refused above 2,200 characters and a post allows at most 30 hashtags; it is easy to cross either line once hashtags are pasted in.
  • Pasting a caption into Instagram strips the blank lines out of it, which turns a tidy post into a wall of text.
  • Starting from a draft in the right tone is quicker than facing an empty caption box, even if you rewrite half of it.

How to use Instagram Caption Generator

  1. Type a short phrase into "What it is about", in lower case, for example "shooting better photos on a phone". It is dropped into the templates as written.
  2. Pick a Tone and an Ending (comment, save, share, follow, bio link, shop, DM, or none), then set Length to Short, Medium or Long.
  3. Move the Emoji slider (none, one, a couple) and the Hashtags slider (0 to 30). Add a handle under "Credit a handle" if you want a photo credit line.
  4. Choose between the four drafts with the numbered chips under Variants and read the feed preview to see where "more" falls.
  5. Check the "things to check" box for warnings, edit the topic if the first line is too long, then press Copy all, or use Copy without hashtags or Copy hashtags only.

Features

  • Eight tones: friendly, storytelling, professional, light and funny, inspiring, educational, promotional and minimal
  • Eight endings, including save, share, DM and "link in bio", or none at all
  • Four draft captions per setting, switchable without retyping
  • Feed preview that marks the 125-character cut and shows what sits behind "more"
  • Counters for the first line, hashtags (out of 30), total characters (out of 2,200) and lines
  • Warnings when the first line is cut, the caption is over the limit, the hashtag count is over 30 or above 15, or the call to action sits far down
  • Optional invisible spacer on empty lines so paragraph breaks survive pasting
  • Download the caption as caption.txt

Supported formats

Text in, text out: the finished caption copies to the clipboard or downloads as a plain caption.txt file.

Tips

  • Write the topic as a phrase that reads naturally in the middle of a sentence, because the templates insert it word for word. "your first sourdough loaf" works better than "Sourdough".
  • If the first line is flagged as over 125 characters, shorten the topic rather than the template; a long topic is almost always the cause.
  • The hashtags are built from your topic words plus a few broad tags for the tone, so read them and delete any that do not describe the post.
  • Leave "Keep the blank lines" on when you paste into Instagram, and switch it off if you are posting somewhere else that keeps blank lines anyway.

Frequently asked questions

Is this written by AI?

No. The captions are assembled from a fixed set of written templates, with your topic, tone, ending and handle filled in. That is why the output is predictable and runs instantly, and why it works best as a first draft you then rewrite in your own voice.

What is the 125-character limit?

It is how much of a caption Instagram typically shows before the "more" link. Instagram does not publish the figure, so the tool treats 125 as a working estimate and shows the cut in the preview. Different screens can cut slightly earlier or later.

How many hashtags can I use?

The Hashtags slider goes from 0 to 30, which is the most Instagram allows on a post. The tool warns above 15 because a very long block rarely adds value.

What does "Keep the blank lines" do?

Instagram removes empty lines when a caption is pasted in. With this on, each empty line gets an invisible braille blank character, so the line is not empty and the spacing survives. It does not show up in the post.

Does anything I type get sent to a server?

No. The captions are built in your browser from the text you type, with no request made for them.

Can I get more than four captions?

Each combination of tone, ending and length gives four drafts. Changing any of those settings, or the topic, gives a different set.

Can I try this Pro tool without an account?

Yes. Write captions with up to 3 variants and 5 hashtags free and copy them. All variants, up to 30 hashtags and the download require Pro. Your own input is processed locally in your browser.

Will upgrading keep my work?

Checkout and login open in a separate tab. Keep the workspace open to retain inputs, settings and previews. Files stay in that tab only; keep the originals in case you close or reload it. Export access is checked with the server after payment.

Your files are processed directly in your browser and are not uploaded to HubToolify's servers.
