Why use this tool?

  • A quote card, certificate or announcement is quicker to lay out in HTML and CSS than in an image editor if you already know them.
  • You can capture how a component looks at a specific width without taking a screenshot of a whole page.
  • A scale setting up to 4x gives a sharp image for retina screens or print.
  • Pasted markup is cleaned before it is rendered, so scripts in a snippet from someone else do not run.

How to use HTML to Image

  1. Type or paste your markup into the Markup box. A sample card is already there to edit.
  2. Set Render width (px) to the width the layout should be drawn at. The minimum is 50.
  3. Choose PNG or JPEG under Format and move the Scale (sharpness) slider from 1x to 4x.
  4. Tick Solid background and pick a colour if you do not want a transparent image.
  5. Press Render to image, check the preview and its pixel size, then press Download.

Features

  • Inline styles and style blocks are both rendered
  • Render width you control, scale from 1x to 4x
  • PNG output with optional transparency, or JPEG
  • Solid background colour picker
  • Scripts and event handlers are stripped before rendering
  • Shows the resulting image size in pixels

Supported formats

Takes HTML and CSS text. Produces a PNG or JPEG named render.png or render.jpg.

Tips

  • A transparent PNG is the default. JPEG cannot hold transparency, so it uses white unless you choose a background colour.
  • Images from other websites can block the export because of cross-origin rules. Use images that allow it, or embed them as data URIs.
  • Because scripts are removed, dynamic content such as JavaScript-driven charts will not appear; render only static markup.
  • External stylesheets are not fetched from a link. Put the CSS in a style block or in inline style attributes.

Frequently asked questions

Does the HTML run on a server?

No. The markup is cleaned and drawn on a canvas in your browser, so the code you paste is not sent to HubToolify.

Why did I get an error about an external image?

An image loaded from another site can taint the canvas and block the export. Use an image whose host allows cross-origin use, or put the image in as a data URI.

Can I run JavaScript in my snippet?

No. Scripts and event handlers are removed before rendering so pasted markup cannot execute inside the app.

Will it look exactly like my browser?

It draws what the browser can paint through a rendering library, so ordinary layouts and styles look right but some unusual CSS features may differ.

How do I get a sharper image?

Raise the Scale slider. At 2x a 600 px wide layout is saved as an image about 1200 px wide.

Can I get a transparent background?

Yes. Choose PNG and leave Solid background unticked.

Can I try this Pro tool without an account?

Yes. Render up to 6,000 characters of HTML to a 640 pixel preview. Pro exports the full-size image. Your own input is processed locally in your browser.

Will upgrading keep my work?

Checkout and login open in a separate tab. Keep the workspace open to retain inputs, settings and previews. Files stay in that tab only; keep the originals in case you close or reload it. Export access is checked with the server after payment.

Your files are processed directly in your browser and are not uploaded to HubToolify's servers.
